Corns and callus are a thickening of the outer layer of skin, which occurs in response to repeated pressure or friction. They're not often serious, but can sometimes cause pain and discomfort which can impact a persons mobility and overall quality of life. 

If you have an area of hard or thickened skin that is causing you discomfort, Flawless feet can help. Gentle removal of the corn or callus can often provide immediate relief. However it is important to determine the cause of the pressure or friction so as to provide the best options to reduce or prevent reoccurrence.  

Flawless Feet DO NOT recommend the use of medicated patches which are available over the counter.  These patches may offer temporary relief but can potentially harm the healthy surrounding skin, leading to tissue damage, scarring or infection. 

 Bunions, medically refereed to as hallux adbucto valgus, present as a bony deformity affecting the joint at the base of the big toe. This condition is progressive and can have various, often multifactorial, causes.  

The primary characteristic of a bunion is the deviation of the big toe toward the second toe, leading to the formation of a bony prominence on the inside of the foot. Another type of bunion, known as a Tailors bunion, is the deformity on the outer side of the foot at the base of the little toe. It is often a smaller deformity, characterised by the deviation of the little toe towards the big toe.   

As bunions progress, they can cause pain, swelling, and difficulty with shoe fitting. In severe cases, they may affect the alignment of other toes and lead to functional limitations. 

Treatment options for bunions may include changes to footwear, orthotic devices, interdigital wedges, and strengthening and stretching exercises. At Flawless Feet we aim to explore conservative treatment options suitable for you with the aim of reducing symptoms and slowing the progression of the deformity. 

Correction of a bunion is unfortunately only possible with surgical intervention.
