A podiatrist is a university qualified allied health professional registered with AHPRA who is able to assess, diagnose and treat foot and lower limb conditions. A podiatrist will carry out an individualised consultation and treatment regime dependent on each person's unique needs. Some patients may only require a one-off visit, while others may require regular reviews, short or long-term exercise programs or onward referrals to other health professions or specialists.
No, you do not need a referral to see a podiatrist. Anyone can book an appointment for a consultation with Flawless Feet Podiatry. However, if your doctor has provided you with a letter, please bring this to your appointment.
Maybe. Private health funds do cover podiatry, however this will depend on the level cover that you have. If you have private health insurance, it is recommended you contact your provider prior to your appointment to confirm if you have podiatry cover and how much of the cost they will cover.
To ensure you receive an accurate idea of your entitled rebate from your provider, please contact Flawless Feet Podiatry for the item codes of the treatment you require.
Some people are eligible to receive Medicare-subsidised allied health appointments, which includes podiatry treatments. To be eligible to receive podiatry cover under Medicare you need to have been diagnosed with a chronic condition such as diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis or peripheral arterial disease. If you are deemed eligible by your GP you will be provided with an Enhanced Primary Care Plan (EPC), sometimes referred to as a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP) which your GP will lodge with Medicare. This care plan will allow you to claim a rebate on up to a maximum of 5 visits per year.
Please contact Flawless Feet Podiatry if your doctor has provided you with an EPC for podiatry and ensure you bring the referral with you when you attend your appointment. Please note that unfortunately we do not bulk bill for EPC referrals.
Yes, we are registered to provide treatment to Department of Veterans Affairs patients. DVA gold cardholders will receive fully subsidised treatment. For White Card holders, DVA will fund services required for services required because of an approved war or service-related injury or disease.
Please ensure you have a referral from your GP, often referred to as D0904 or D904. A DVA referral from your GP is valid for 1 year and can be renewed annually.
